भगवन्प्राणिनां नित्यं नान्यत्र मरणाद्भयम् । नास्ति मृत्युसमः शत्रुरमरत्वमहं वृणे ॥ 7-10-16 ॥
"O Lord, for living beings there is never any fear from anything other than death; there is no enemy equal to death. I therefore choose immortality."
english translation
एवमुक्तस्तदा ब्रह्मा दशग्रीवमुवाच ह । नास्ति सर्वामरत्वं ते वरमन्यं वृणीष्व मे ॥ 7-10-17 ॥
Thus addressed, Brahma then said to Dashagriva: "Complete immortality is not for you; choose some other boon from me."
english translation
एवमुक्ते तदा राम ब्रह्मणा लोककर्तृणा । दशग्रीव उवाचेदं कृताञ्जलिरथाग्रतः ॥ 7-10-18 ॥
When the maker of the worlds, Brahma, had spoken thus, O Rama, Dashagriva, with joined palms, said this before him.
english translation
सुपर्णनागयक्षाणां दैत्यदानवरक्षसाम् । अवध्यो ऽहं प्रजाध्यक्ष देवतानां च शाश्वत ॥ 7-10-19 ॥
"O Lord of creatures, O eternal one, let me be unslayable by the Suparnas, the Nagas, the Yakshas, the Daityas, the Danavas, the Rakshasas, and the gods."
english translation
नहि चिन्ता ममान्येषु प्राणिष्वमरपूजित । तृणभूता हि ते मन्ये प्राणिनो मानुषादयः ॥ 7-10-20 ॥
"O one honored by the immortals, I have no concern about other creatures; for I count those beings, men and the rest, as mere blades of grass."
