When the fingers are turned differently (i.e., the middle finger is bent backward), this hand should be used to represent falling down, death, transgression, reversion, cogitation, and placing something in trust.
This hand gesture (Kartarīmukha), whether used with both hands (saṃyuta) or a single hand (asaṃyuta), is employed by the knowledgeable to represent an antelope, yak, buffalo, celestial elephant (Airāvata), bull, gate (Gogūra), and hilltop.
The hand in which the fingers, along with the thumb, are bent like a bow is known as Ardhacandra (crescent moon). Now, its applications will be described.
With this (Ardhacandra) hand should be represented young trees, the crescent moon, water, a jar (kalaśa), bracelets, forcible opening, exertion, comparison, and fullness.
