The sides are of five kinds: Nata (bent), Samunnata (raised), Prasārita (extended), Vivartita (turned round), and Apasṛta (drawn away). These are the five actions of the sides.
The side may be slightly bent (Ābhugna), with the waist and side bent. Similarly, when the side is restored from the turned position, it is referred to as a slightly bent side (Ābhugna) in the Nata posture.
When the turning (Vivartita) is reversed, it becomes Apasṛta (drawn away). This is the description of the side movement, and the application should be understood accordingly.
