संभ्रमविषादमूर्च्छाशोकभयव्याधिहृदयशल्येषु । कार्यं शीतस्पर्शे वर्षे लाजान्वितेऽर्थवशात् ॥ २२६॥
The Ābhugna (slightly bent) breast is used in conditions such as confusion, despair, fainting, sorrow, fear, heartache, sickness, touching cold objects, during rains, or when feeling ashamed of an action, or when influenced by material desires.
स्तब्धं च निम्नपृष्ठं च निर्भुग्नांसं समुन्नतम् । उरो निर्भुग्नमेतद्धि कर्म चास्य निबोधत ॥ २२७॥
The Nirbhugna (unbent) breast is stiff, with the back depressed, shoulders not bent, and raised. It is used in conditions like paralysis, resentment, surprise, asserting truth, haughtiness, and excess pride.
स्तम्भे मानग्रहणे विस्मयदृष्टे च सत्यवचने च । अहमिति च दर्पवचने गर्वोत्सेके तु कर्तव्यम् ॥२२८॥
The Nirbhugna breast is used in conditions like stiffness, pride, surprise, and when asserting truth, as well as in expressions of arrogance and self-assertion.
[दीर्घनिश्वसिते चैव जृम्भणे मोटने तथा । बिब्बोके च पुनः स्त्रीणां तद्विज्ञेयं प्रयोक्तृभिः ] ॥ २२९॥
The Nirbhugna breast is also used when there is a long sigh, yawning, stretching, and in women, it is expressed in moments of groaning or similar actions.
The breast is known as Prakampita (shaking) when it is repeatedly heaved upwards with continuous upward movements. This is recognized by practitioners of drama and dance.
