सर्वेषामेव हस्तानां यानि कर्माणि सन्ति हि । तान्यहं सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि रसभावकृतानि तु ॥ १६६॥
I shall now describe the actions performed by all hands, which are created by the Sentiments and the States.

sarveSAmeva hastAnAM yAni karmANi santi hi । tAnyahaM sampravakSyAmi rasabhAvakRtAni tu ॥ 166॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्कर्षणं विकर्षणं तथा चैवापकर्षणम् । परिग्रहो निग्रहश्चाह्वानं नोदनमेव च ॥ १६७॥
These are the actions of the hands: lifting, dragging, pulling, acceptance, restraint, calling, and striking.

utkarSaNaM vikarSaNaM tathA caivApakarSaNam । parigraho nigrahazcAhvAnaM nodanameva ca ॥ 167॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंश्लेषश्च वियोगश्च रक्षणं मोक्षणं तथा । विक्षेपधूनने चैव विसर्गस्तर्जनं तथा ॥ १६८॥
Joining, separation, protection, release, disturbance, shaking, dispersing, and threatening.

saMzleSazca viyogazca rakSaNaM mokSaNaM tathA । vikSepadhUnane caiva visargastarjanaM tathA ॥ 168॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptछेदनं भेदनं चैव स्फोटनं मोटनं तथा । ताडनं चेति विज्ञेयं तज्ज्ञैः कर्म करान् प्रति ॥ १६९॥
Cutting, breaking, bursting, grinding, and striking—these are to be known as actions to be performed by hands according to experts.

chedanaM bhedanaM caiva sphoTanaM moTanaM tathA । tADanaM ceti vijJeyaM tajjJaiH karma karAn prati ॥ 169॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्तानः पार्श्वगश्चैव तथाऽधोमुख एव च । हस्तप्रचारस्त्रिविधो नाट्यतत्त्वसमाश्रयः ॥ १७०॥
There are three types of hand movements in acting: the raised (uttāna), sideways (pārśvaga), and downward (adhomukha) movements, which are rooted in the principles of dramatic art.
