संज्ञोपदेशपृच्छासु स्वभावाभाषणे तथा । निर्देशावाहने चैव भवेदाकम्पितं शिरः ॥ २१॥

(Uses): The Ākampita head is to be applied in giving a hint, teaching, questioning, addressing in an ordinary way (lit. naturally), and giving an order.

english translation

saMjJopadezapRcchAsu svabhAvAbhASaNe tathA | nirdezAvAhane caiva bhavedAkampitaM ziraH || 21||

hk transliteration

रोषे वितर्के विज्ञाने प्रतिज्ञानेऽथ तर्जने । प्रश्नातिशयवाक्येषु शिरः कम्पितमिष्यते ॥ २२॥

sanskrit

The Kampita head is applicable (lit. desired) in anger, argument, understanding, asserting, threatening, sickness and intolerance.

english translation

roSe vitarke vijJAne pratijJAne'tha tarjane | praznAtizayavAkyeSu ziraH kampitamiSyate || 22||

hk transliteration

शिरसो रेचनं यत्तु शनैस्तद् धुतमिष्यते । द्रुतमारेचनादेतद्विधुतं तु भवेच्छिरः॥२३॥

sanskrit

Dhuta and Vidhuta: A slow movement of the head is called the Dhuta, and when this movement is quick, it is called the Vidhuta.

english translation

ziraso recanaM yattu zanaistad dhutamiSyate | drutamArecanAdetadvidhutaM tu bhavecchiraH||23||

hk transliteration

अनीप्सिते विषादे च विस्मये प्रत्ययं तथा । पार्श्वावलोकने शून्ये प्रतिषेधे धुतं शिरः ॥ २४॥

sanskrit

(Uses): The Dhuta head is applicable in unwillingness, sadness, astonishment, confidence, looking sideways, emptiness and forbidding.

english translation

anIpsite viSAde ca vismaye pratyayaM tathA | pArzvAvalokane zUnye pratiSedhe dhutaM ziraH || 24||

hk transliteration

शीतग्रस्ते भयार्ते च त्रासिते ज्वरिते तथा । पीतमात्रे तथा मद्ये विधुतं तु भवेच्छिरः ॥ २५॥

sanskrit

The Vidhuta head is to be applied in an attack of cold, terror, panic, fever and the first stage of drinking.

english translation

zItagraste bhayArte ca trAsite jvarite tathA | pItamAtre tathA madye vidhutaM tu bhavecchiraH || 25||
