मुखजेऽभिनये विप्रा! नानाभावरसाश्रये । शिरसः प्रथमं कर्म गदतो मे निबोधत ॥ १६॥

O Brahmins, listen first of all about the different gestures of the head, which are included in the facial gestures and which support many Sentiments (rasa) and States (bhāva).

english translation

आकम्पितं कम्पितं च धूतं विधुतमेव च । परिवाहितमाधूतमवधूतं तथाञ्चितम् ॥ १७॥

Ākampita, Kampita, Dhūta, and Vidhuta, Parivāhita, Ādhūta, Avadhūta, and Añcita,

english translation

निहञ्चितं परावृत्तमुत्क्षिप्तं चाप्यधोगतम् । लोलितं चैव विज्ञेयं त्रयोदशविधं शिरः ॥ १८॥

Nihañcita, Parāvṛtta, Utkṣipta, Adhogata, and Lolita are to be understood as well, making the head gestures of thirteen kinds.

शनैराकम्पनादूर्ध्वमधश्चाकम्पितं भवेत् । द्रुतं तदेव बहुशः कम्पितं कम्पितं शिरः ॥ १९॥

Ākampita: Moving the head slowly up and down is called the Ākampita. Kampita: When the movements in the Ākampita head are quick and copious the same is called Kampita.

ऋजुस्थितस्य चोर्ध्वाधः क्षेपादाकम्पितं भवेत् । बहुशश्चलितं यच्च तत्कम्पितमिहोच्यते ॥ २०॥
