ततः सार्धं सुरैर्गत्वा वृषभाङ्कनिवेशनम् । समभ्यर्च्य शिवं पश्चादुवाचेदं पितामहः ॥ ६॥

Then, along with the gods, Brahmā went to the abode of the bull-bannered Lord Śiva, and after paying respects to him, he spoke the following words.

tataH sArdhaM surairgatvA vRSabhAGkanivezanam | samabhyarcya zivaM pazcAduvAcedaM pitAmahaH || 6||

मया समवाकरस्तु योऽयं सृष्टः सुरोत्तम । श्रवणे दर्शने चास्य प्रसादं कर्तुमर्हसि ॥ ७॥

"O best of the gods, this Samavakāra has been composed by me. You are worthy of hearing and witnessing it, and by doing so, you will bestow your grace upon it."

english translation

mayA samavAkarastu yo'yaM sRSTaH surottama | zravaNe darzane cAsya prasAdaM kartumarhasi || 7||

पश्याम इति देवेशो द्रुहिणं वाक्यमब्रवीत् । ततो मामाह भगवान् सज्जो भव महामते ॥ ८॥

The Lord of the gods, Śiva, said, "I shall witness it," and then the blessed one spoke to me, "Prepare yourself, O great-souled one!"

english translation

pazyAma iti devezo druhiNaM vAkyamabravIt | tato mAmAha bhagavAn sajjo bhava mahAmate || 8||

ततो हिमवतः पृष्ठे नानानागसमाकुले । बहुभूतगणाकीर्णे रम्यकन्दरनिर्ज़्हरे ॥ ९॥

Then, on the slopes of the Himavat, amidst a variety of elephants and other creatures, in a beautiful cave near a crystal-clear waterfall, the performance was arranged.

tato himavataH pRSThe nAnAnAgasamAkule | bahubhUtagaNAkIrNe ramyakandaranirja़hare || 9||

पूर्वरङ्गः कृतः पूर्वं तत्रायं द्विजसत्तमाः । तथा त्रिपुरदाहश्च डिमसंज्ञः प्रयोजितः ॥ १०॥

The preliminaries were performed first, and there the great Brahmin, along with the performance of the Tripuradāha, a dramatic piece known as Ḍīma, was also initiated.

pUrvaraGgaH kRtaH pUrvaM tatrAyaM dvijasattamAH | tathA tripuradAhazca DimasaMjJaH prayojitaH || 10||
