तच्छ्रुत्वा मुनयः सर्वे भीमरोषप्रकम्पिताः । ऊचुस्तान् भरतान् क्रुद्धा निर्दहन्त इवाग्नयः ॥ ३६॥

Hearing this, all the sages, trembling with great anger, spoke to the Bharatas, as if they were fire about to burn them.

english translation

tacchrutvA munayaH sarve bhImaroSaprakampitAH | UcustAn bharatAn kruddhA nirdahanta ivAgnayaH || 36||

मा तावद्भो द्विजा युक्तमिदमस्मद्विडम्बनम् । को नामायं परिभवः किञ्च नास्मासु सम्मतम् ॥ ३७॥

"Do not, O Brahmins, immediately speak of this as our disgrace. Who among us has ever been dishonored in such a way, or who has been subjected to such a disgrace?"

english translation

mA tAvadbho dvijA yuktamidamasmadviDambanam | ko nAmAyaM paribhavaH kiJca nAsmAsu sammatam || 37||

यस्माज्ज्ञानमदोन्मत्ता न वेत्थाविनयाश्रिताः । तस्मादेतद्धि भवतां कुज्ञानं नाशमेष्यति ॥ ३८॥

"Those who are intoxicated with knowledge and do not rely on humility do not understand this. Therefore, this ignorance will lead to their destruction."

english translation

yasmAjjJAnamadonmattA na vetthAvinayAzritAH | tasmAdetaddhi bhavatAM kujJAnaM nAzameSyati || 38||

ऋषीणां ब्राह्मणानां च समवायसमागताः । निराहुता विना होमैः शूद्राचारा भविष्यथ ॥ ३९॥

"Those who have assembled with the sages and brahmins, without offerings or rituals, will adopt the conduct of the shudras."

RSINAM brAhmaNAnAM ca samavAyasamAgatAH | nirAhutA vinA homaiH zUdrAcArA bhaviSyatha || 39||

अपाङ्क्तेयाः कुत्सिताश्चावमा एव भविष्यथ । यश्च वो भविता वंशः सर्वाशौचो भविष्यति ॥ ४०॥

"The disgraceful, degraded, and lowly ones will indeed arise, and the lineage of those among you will become completely impure."

apAGkteyAH kutsitAzcAvamA eva bhaviSyatha | yazca vo bhavitA vaMzaH sarvAzauco bhaviSyati || 40||
