शौचं कृत्वा यतो मन्त्रं पूजनं जर्जरस्य तु । उच्यते पूर्वरङ्गेऽस्मिन् तस्माच्छौचं प्रकीर्तितम् ॥ ३१॥

After performing purification, the mantra and worship are recited, even by the elderly. This is what is said about the former stage of the performance (Purvaranga), and therefore, purity is declared.

zaucaM kRtvA yato mantraM pUjanaM jarjarasya tu | ucyate pUrvaraGge'smin tasmAcchaucaM prakIrtitam || 31||

यथावतारितं चैव नाट्यमेतन्महीतले । वक्तव्यं सर्वमेतद्धि न शक्यं हि निगूहितुम् ॥ ३२॥

Just as the drama is elevated on the earth, all of it must be spoken as it is; it is not possible to conceal any part of it.

english translation

yathAvatAritaM caiva nATyametanmahItale | vaktavyaM sarvametaddhi na zakyaM hi nigUhitum || 32||

ममैते तनयाः सर्वे नाट्यवेदसमन्विताः । सर्वलोकं प्रहसनैः बाधन्ते नाट्यसंश्रयैः ॥ ३३॥

All of my children, endowed with the knowledge of the dramatic art, afflict the whole world with their laughter, supported by the refuge of drama.

english translation

mamaite tanayAH sarve nATyavedasamanvitAH | sarvalokaM prahasanaiH bAdhante nATyasaMzrayaiH || 33||

कस्यचित्त्वथ कालस्य शिल्पकं ग्राम्यधर्मकम् । ऋषीणां व्यङ्ग्यकरणं कुर्वद्भिर्गुणसंश्रयम् ॥ ३४॥

At a certain time, those who perform the art of sculpture, the rustic duties, and the satirical works of sages, all engage in the practice that is rooted in virtues.

kasyacittvatha kAlasya zilpakaM grAmyadharmakam | RSINAM vyaGgyakaraNaM kurvadbhirguNasaMzrayam || 34||

अश्राव्यं तद्दुराचारं ग्राम्यधर्मप्रवर्तितम् । निष्ठुरं चाप्रस्तुतं च काव्यं संसदि योजितम् ॥ ३५॥

That which is unhearable, sinful, initiated by rustic duties, cruel, and inappropriate, when joined with poetry in a gathering, becomes unsuitable.
