उष्णिगनुष्टुब्बृहती पङ्क्तिश्चेतीह जातयः । एताः प्रासादिकीनां तु त्र्! यश्रा ज्ञेया यथाक्रमम् ॥ ३६॥
The classes of metres here are Uṣṇik, Anuṣṭubh, Bṛhatī and Paṅkti. These three are to be known, in due order, as applicable to the Prāsādikī Dhruvās.

अनुष्टुब्बृहती चैव जगत्यथ विलम्बिता ध्रुता च चपला चैवमुद्गता कृतिरेव च । ध्रुवाणां जातयो ह्येताः प्रयोगेषु प्रकीर्तिताः ॥ ३७॥
The Anuṣṭubh, Bṛhatī, Jagatī, Vilambitā, Drutā, Capalā, Udgatā and Kṛti—these are the classes of metres that are declared to be employed in the Dhruvās during their application in performance.

प्रावेशिकीनां जातीनामुद्घतानां निबोधत पङ्क्तिस्त्रिष्टुप्सजगती तथाऽतिजगती पुनः । शक्वरी चेति निर्दिष्टा उद्घतानां तु जातयः ॥ ३८॥
Now understand the classes of metres prescribed for the Prāveśikī Dhruvās of energetic (udghāta) characters. These are Paṅkti, Triṣṭubh, Jagatī, Atijagatī and Śakvarī, which are declared to be the classes applicable to such energetic types.

सर्वासामेव जातीनां त्रिविधं वृत्तमुच्यते । गुरुप्रायं लघुप्रायं गुरुलघ्वक्षरं तथा ॥ ३९॥
For all these classes of metres, three kinds of metrical forms (vṛtta) are prescribed: one consisting predominantly of long syllables, one predominantly of short syllables, and one composed of both long and short syllables.

गुरुप्रायाऽवकृष्टा स्याल्लघुप्राया द्रुता तथा । गुरुलघ्वक्षरप्रायाः शेषाः कार्या ध्रुवास्तथा ॥ ४०॥
The Apakṛṣṭā Dhruvā should consist predominantly of long syllables, and the Drutā Dhruvā predominantly of short syllables. The remaining Dhruvās should be composed mostly of both long and short syllables.
