अन्योन्यहेतुसंयोगः प्रसर्तव्यस्तथैव तु । योगादेककलात्सूते कनिष्ठकलयान्तरे । द्विकलान्मध्यमं चैव ज्येष्ठं चैव चतुष्कलात् ॥ ९१॥
One Kalā being added to the short ॥ Asarita॥ it gives rise to the Layā (Layāntarita); and two Kalās being added ॥ it becomes॥ the medium ॥ Āsārita॥, and four Kalās being added ॥ it is॥ the long ॥ Āsārita॥.

anyonyahetusaMyogaH prasartavyastathaiva tu । yogAdekakalAtsUte kaniSThakalayAntare । dvikalAnmadhyamaM caiva jyeSThaM caiva catuSkalAt ॥ 91॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचञ्चत्पुटपरिवर्तः शम्यादि द्वौ च पञ्चपाणिकृतौ । अन्ते च सन्निपातः पातविधिरयं कनिष्ठस्य ॥ ९२॥
The rule of the Pāta for the short ॥ Āsārita॥ is as follows: Śamyā, Tāla, Śamyā, Tāla, (lit. one turn of the Cañcatpuṭaḥ beginning with Śamyā) Sannipāta, Tāla, Śamyā, Tāla, Śamyā, Tāla, Sannipāta, Tāla, Śamyā, Tāla, Śamyā, Tāla, (lit. two Pañcapāṇiḥ beginning with Śamyā).

caJcatpuTaparivartaH zamyAdi dvau ca paJcapANikRtau । ante ca sannipAtaH pAtavidhirayaM kaniSThasya ॥ 92॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअयमेव तालयोगो विशेषसिद्धिश्च सूर्यवद्दिष्टा । भवतीह लयान्तरिते शब्दाद्भेदो लयश्चैव ॥ ९३॥
This very combination of Tālas, whose special structure is as fixed and definite as the course of the sun, belongs to the Layāntarita. Here, there occurs a variation both in sound and in tempo.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्तरकालान्कृत्वा त्वादौ विप्राः कलाः परित्यज्य । एतत्पातविधानं मध्यमकासारिते प्रोक्तम् ॥ ९४॥
By placing the later Kalās at the beginning and omitting the earlier ones, this rule of Pāta is prescribed by the sages for the medium Āsārita.
