The staff (daṇḍa) is said to be four hands in length, as defined by the standard measurement. By this same measurement, I will now explain the determination of these elements.
The playhouse should not be constructed higher than the specified height by the builders, as the dramatic performance (nāṭya) would not be effective there, due to the imperceptible nature of the emotions.
If the stage is constructed improperly, the recitation and vocalization will be distorted due to the lack of resonance and harmony, leading to a harsh sound that will greatly diminish the quality of the performance.
If the essence or mood intended for the performance is not clear and is devoid of varied perspectives, the playhouse will lose its excellence and lead to an unclear or undefined atmosphere.
