क्षत्रियं चैव वैश्यं च ब्राह्मणो वृत्तिकर्शितौ । बिभृयादानृशंस्येन स्वानि कर्माणि कारयेत् ॥ ४११ ॥

(Some wealthy) Brahmana shall compassionately support both a Kshatriya and a Vaisya, if they are distressed for a livelihood, employing them on work (which is suitable for) their (castes).
english translation
kSatriyaM caiva vaizyaM ca brAhmaNo vRttikarzitau | bibhRyAdAnRzaMsyena svAni karmANi kArayet || 411 ||

दास्यं तु कारयन्लोभाद् ब्राह्मणः संस्कृतान् द्विजान् । अनिच्छतः प्राभवत्याद् राज्ञा दण्ड्यः शतानि षट् ॥ ४१२ ॥

But a Brahmana who, because he is powerful, out of greed makes initiated (men of the) twice-born (castes) against their will do the work of slaves, shall be fined by the king six hundred (panas).
english translation
dAsyaM tu kArayanlobhAd brAhmaNaH saMskRtAn dvijAn | anicchataH prAbhavatyAd rAjJA daNDyaH zatAni SaT || 412 ||

शूद्रं तु कारयेद् दास्यं क्रीतमक्रीतमेव वा । दास्यायैव हि सृष्टोऽसौ ब्राह्मणस्य स्वयम्भुवा ॥ ४१३ ॥

But a Sudra, whether bought or unbought, he may compel to do servile work; for he was created by the Self-existent (Svayambhu) to be the slave of a Brahmana.

zUdraM tu kArayed dAsyaM krItamakrItameva vA | dAsyAyaiva hi sRSTo'sau brAhmaNasya svayambhuvA || 413 ||

न स्वामिना निसृष्टोऽपि शूद्रो दास्याद् विमुच्यते । निसर्गजं हि तत् तस्य कस्तस्मात् तदपोहति ॥ ४१४ ॥

A Sudra, though emancipated by his master, is not released from servitude; since that is innate in him, who can set him free from it?

na svAminA nisRSTo'pi zUdro dAsyAd vimucyate | nisargajaM hi tat tasya kastasmAt tadapohati || 414 ||

ध्वजाहृतो भक्तदासो गृहजः क्रीतदत्त्रिमौ । पैत्रिको दण्डदासश्च सप्तैते दासयोनयः ॥ ४१५ ॥

There are slaves of seven kinds, (viz.) he who is made a captive under a standard, he who serves for his daily food, he who is born in the house, he who is bought and he who is given, he who is inherited from ancestors, and he who is enslaved by way of punishment.

dhvajAhRto bhaktadAso gRhajaH krItadattrimau | paitriko daNDadAsazca saptaite dAsayonayaH || 415 ||
