एतैर्विवादान् सन्त्यज्य सर्वपापैः प्रमुच्यते । एतैर्जितैश्च जयति सर्वान्लोकानिमान् गृही ॥ १८१ ॥

sanskrit

If he avoids quarrels with these persons, he will be freed from all sins, and by suppressing (all) such (quarrels) a householder conquers all the following worlds.

english translation

etairvivAdAn santyajya sarvapApaiH pramucyate | etairjitaizca jayati sarvAnlokAnimAn gRhI || 181 ||

आचार्यो ब्रह्मलोकैशः प्राजापत्ये पिता प्रभुः । अतिथिस्त्विन्द्रलोकेशो देवलोकस्य चर्त्विजः ॥ १८२ ॥

sanskrit

The teacher is the lord of the world of Brahman, the father has power over the world of the Lord of created beings (Pragapati), a guest rules over the world of Indra, and the priests over the world of the gods.

english translation

AcAryo brahmalokaizaH prAjApatye pitA prabhuH | atithistvindralokezo devalokasya cartvijaH || 182 ||

जामयोऽप्सरसां लोके वैश्वदेवस्य बान्धवाः । सम्बन्धिनो ह्यपां लोके पृथिव्यां मातृमातुलौ ॥ १८३ ॥

sanskrit

The female relatives (have power) over the world of the Apsarases, the maternal relatives over that of the Visve Devas, the connexions by marriage over that of the waters, the mother and the maternal uncle over the earth.

english translation

jAmayo'psarasAM loke vaizvadevasya bAndhavAH | sambandhino hyapAM loke pRthivyAM mAtRmAtulau || 183 ||

आकाशेशास्तु विज्ञेया बालवृद्धकृशातुराः । भ्राता ज्येष्ठः समः पित्रा भार्या पुत्रः स्वका तनुः ॥ १८४ ॥

Infants, aged, poor and sick men must be considered as rulers of the middle sphere, the eldest brother as equal to one’s father, one’s wife and one’s son as one’s own body,

AkAzezAstu vijJeyA bAlavRddhakRzAturAH | bhrAtA jyeSThaH samaH pitrA bhAryA putraH svakA tanuH || 184 ||

छाया स्वो दासवर्गश्च दुहिता कृपणं परम् । तस्मादेतैरधिक्षिप्तः सहेतासञ्ज्वरः सदा ॥ १८५ ॥

sanskrit

One’s slaves as one’s shadow, one’s daughter as the highest object of tenderness; hence if one is offended by (any one of) these, one must bear it without resentment.

chAyA svo dAsavargazca duhitA kRpaNaM param | tasmAdetairadhikSiptaH sahetAsaJjvaraH sadA || 185 ||
