नृत्यंसंदर्शयामासुस्तथैवाड्रेषु सौष्ठवम् । नाभ्यगच्छत् प्रहर्ष ता: स पश्यन् सुमहातपा: ॥ ५-९-१६ ॥
They showed their dances. They exhibited the beauty of their limbs. But having seen this, the great ascetic was not perturbed.
english translation
nRtyaMsaMdarzayAmAsustathaivADreSu sauSThavam । nAbhyagacchat praharSa tA: sa pazyan sumahAtapA: ॥ 5-9-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइन्द्रियाणि वशे कृत्वा पूर्वसागरसंनिभ: । तास्तु यत्नं परं कृत्वा पुन: शक्रमुपस्थिता: ॥ ५-९-१७ ॥
He was in control of his senses and was as calm as the full ocean. They made supreme efforts and returned to Shakra.
english translation
indriyANi vaze kRtvA pUrvasAgarasaMnibha: । tAstu yatnaM paraM kRtvA puna: zakramupasthitA: ॥ 5-9-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकृताञ्जलिपुटा: सर्वा देवराजमथाब्रुवन् न स शक्य: सुदुर्थर्षो चैर्याच्चालयितुं प्रभो ॥ ५-९-१८ ॥
And the nymphs after having tried their best, came back to Indra. And they all with joined hands spoke to the lord of the celestials, saying, 'O, that unapproachable being is incapable of being disturbed by us.'
english translation
kRtAJjalipuTA: sarvA devarAjamathAbruvan na sa zakya: sudurtharSo cairyAccAlayituM prabho ॥ 5-9-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयत् ते कार्य महाभाग क्रियतां तदनन्तरम् । सम्पूज्याप्सरस: शक्रो विसृज्य च महामति: ॥ ५-९-१९ ॥
'O highly gifted being, thou mayst do what now may seem proper to thee.' The high-minded Indra honoured the nymphs and then dismissed them . -
english translation
yat te kArya mahAbhAga kriyatAM tadanantaram । sampUjyApsarasa: zakro visRjya ca mahAmati: ॥ 5-9-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचिन्तयामास तस्यैव वधोपायं युधिष्ठिर । स तूष्णीं चिन्तयन् वीरो देवराज: प्रतापवान् ॥ ५-९-२० ॥
- reflecting, O Yudhishthira, solely upon other means of destroying his foe. The brave and powerful king of the gods began to think about this in silence.
english translation
cintayAmAsa tasyaiva vadhopAyaM yudhiSThira । sa tUSNIM cintayan vIro devarAja: pratApavAn ॥ 5-9-20 ॥
