न चापि पार्थॊ विजितॊ रणे तैः; सवतेजसा धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्रैः तथापि राजा सहितः सुहृद्भिर; अभीप्सते ऽनामयम एव तेषाम ।। ५-१-१६ ।।
‘The sons of Dhritarashtra are incapable of defeating Arjuna, the son of Pritha, by force. Nevertheless, King Yudhishthira and his allies desire nothing but the welfare of Dhritarashtra’s sons.’ ।। 5-1-16 ।।
‘Surely, you all know how the enemies of the Pandavas, eager to seize the kingdom, plotted in various ways to destroy them when they were still mere boys. Such wickedness and rancor possessed them.’ ।। 5-1-18 ।।
तेषां च लॊभं परसमीक्ष्य वृद्धं; धर्मात्मतां चापि युधिष्ठिरस्य संबन्धितां चापि समीक्ष्य तेषां; मतिं कुरुध्वं सहिताः पृथक च ।। ५-१-१९ ।।
‘Consider their greed and, in contrast, the virtue of Yudhishthira. Also, reflect upon the bond that exists between them. I beseech you all to deliberate together, and also to reflect individually.’ ।। 5-1-19 ।।
‘The Pandavas have always honored truth and have fulfilled their promises to the letter. If now wronged by the sons of Dhritarashtra, they would not hesitate to vanquish them, even if united.’ ।। 5-1-20 ।।
