शतं मत्स्या नृपतयः शतं नीपाः शतं हयाः धृतराष्ट्राश चैकशतम अशीतिर जनमेजयाः ॥ २-८-२१ ॥

'One hundred kings of the Matsyas, one hundred of the Nishadas, one hundred of the horses, a hundred of the Dhritarashtras, and eighty of the Janamejayas.' ॥ 2-8-21 ॥

english translation

zataM matsyA nRpatayaH zataM nIpAH zataM hayAH dhRtarASTrAza caikazatama azItira janamejayAH ॥ 2-8-21 ॥

शतं च बरह्मदत्तानाम ईरिणां वैरिणां शतम शंतनुश चैव राजर्षिः पाण्डुश चैव पिता तव ॥ २-८-२२ ॥

'One hundred of the Bharadwajas, one hundred of the Ikshvakus, and one hundred of the Shantanus, including your father Pandu.' ॥ 2-8-22 ॥

zataM ca barahmadattAnAma IriNAM vairiNAM zatama zaMtanuza caiva rAjarSiH pANDuza caiva pitA tava ॥ 2-8-22 ॥

उशद गवः शतरथॊ देवराजॊ जयद्रथः वृषा दर्भिश च राजर्षिर धाम्ना सह समन्त्रिणा ॥ २-८-२३ ॥

'One hundred of the Ushadas, one hundred of the Shatarathas, and one hundred of the Jayadrathas, along with Vrishas, Darbhas, and the royal Rishi Dhaumya, with his minister.' ॥ 2-8-23 ॥

uzada gavaH zatarathò devarAjò jayadrathaH vRSA darbhiza ca rAjarSira dhAmnA saha samantriNA ॥ 2-8-23 ॥

अथापरे सहस्राणि ये गताः शशबिन्दवः इष्ट्वाश्वमेधैर बहुभिर महद्भिर भूरिदक्षिणैः ॥ २-८-२४ ॥

'Moreover, thousands of moons have passed, delighting in various grand sacrificial rites, with abundant offerings.' ॥ 2-8-24 ॥

'These noble royal sages, revered for their illustrious deeds and profound understanding of scriptures, await, O King, and venerate the son of Vivaswat in that assembly hall.' ॥ 2-8-25 ॥
