धर्मतः पाण्डुपुत्रा वै वनं गच्छन्ति निर्जिताः ते च दवादश वर्षाणि वने वत्स्यन्ति कौरवाः ॥ २-७१-३६ ॥
'The sons of Pandu, defeated in the game of dice, are going into exile as per their vow. They will reside in the forest for twelve years, living the life of Brahmacharya during this time.' ॥ 2-71-36 ॥
english translation
dharmataH pANDuputrA vai vanaM gacchanti nirjitAH te ca davAdaza varSANi vane vatsyanti kauravAH ॥ 2-71-36 ॥
