इत्य उक्त्वा दिवम आक्रम्य कषिप्रम अन्तरधीयत बराह्मीं शरियं सुविपुलां बिभ्रद देवर्षिसत्तमः ॥ २-७१-३१ ॥
'And having said this, that best of celestial Rishis, adorned with surpassing Vedic grace, passing through the skies, disappeared from the scene.' ॥ 2-71-31 ॥
english translation
itya uktvA divama Akramya kaSiprama antaradhIyata barAhmIM zariyaM suvipulAM bibhrada devarSisattamaH ॥ 2-71-31 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ दुर्यॊधनः कर्णः शकुनिश चापि सौबलः दरॊणं दवीपम अमन्यन्त राज्यं चास्मै नयवेदयन ॥ २-७१-३२ ॥
'Then, Duryodhana, Karna, and Shakuni, the son of Suvala, considering Drona as their sole refuge, offered the kingdom to him.' ॥ 2-71-32 ॥
english translation
tatò duryòdhanaH karNaH zakuniza cApi saubalaH daròNaM davIpama amanyanta rAjyaM cAsmai nayavedayana ॥ 2-71-32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथाब्रवीत ततॊ दरॊणॊ दुर्यॊधनम अमर्षणम दुःशासनं च कर्णं च सर्वान एव च भारतान ॥ २-७१-३३ ॥
'Drona then, addressing the envious and wrathful Duryodhana and Dussasana and Karna and all the Bharata, said;' ॥ 2-71-33 ॥

athAbravIta tatò daròNò duryòdhanama amarSaNama duHzAsanaM ca karNaM ca sarvAna eva ca bhAratAna ॥ 2-71-33 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअवध्यान पाण्डवान आहुर देवपुत्रान दविजातयः अहं तु शरणं पराप्तान वर्तमानॊ यथाबलम ॥ २-७१-३४ ॥
'The Brahmanas have declared that the Pandavas, being of divine origin, are invincible. However, the sons of Dhritarashtra, along with all the kings, have earnestly sought my protection with great reverence.' ॥ 2-71-34 ॥
english translation
avadhyAna pANDavAna Ahura devaputrAna davijAtayaH ahaM tu zaraNaM parAptAna vartamAnò yathAbalama ॥ 2-71-34 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगतान सर्वात्मना भक्त्या धार्तरस्त्रान सराजकान नॊत्सहे समभित्यक्तुं दैवमूलम अतः परम ॥ २-७१-३५ ॥
'With complete devotion, I cannot abandon the Dhartarastras and the kings who have come to me, as they are under the protection of divine will, which is paramount.' ॥ 2-71-35 ॥

gatAna sarvAtmanA bhaktyA dhArtarastrAna sarAjakAna nòtsahe samabhityaktuM daivamUlama ataH parama ॥ 2-71-35 ॥
