राहुर अग्रसद आदित्यम अपर्वणि विशां पते उल्का चाप्य अपसव्यं तु पुरं कृत्वा वयशीर्यत ॥ २-७१-२६ ॥
'Rahu seemed to devour the Sun, even though it was not the time of the eclipse. Meteors fell, casting their light over the city.' ॥ 2-71-26 ॥

rAhura agrasada Adityama aparvaNi vizAM pate ulkA cApya apasavyaM tu puraM kRtvA vayazIryata ॥ 2-71-26 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपरव्याहरन्ति करव्यादा गृध्रगॊमायुवायसाः देवायतनचैत्येषु पराकाराट्टालकेषु च ॥ २-७१-२७ ॥
'Jackals, vultures, ravens, and other scavengers began to wail from temples, sacred trees, walls, and rooftops.' ॥ 2-71-27 ॥

'These ominous signs, O king, forewarned the destruction of the Bharatas as a consequence of your malevolent decisions.' ॥ 2-71-28 ॥

evama ete mahòtpAtA vanaM gacchati pANDave bhAratAnAma abhAvAya rAjana durmantrite tava ॥ 2-71-28 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनारदश च सभामध्ये कुरूणाम अग्रतः सथितः महर्षिभिः परिवृतॊ रौद्रं वाक्यम उवाच ह ॥ २-७१-२९ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'And, O king, while Dhritarashtra and the wise Vidura were engaged in their conversation, the foremost of celestial Rishis appeared in the assembly of the Kauravas, visible to all. Addressing everyone present, he spoke these formidable words.'' ॥ 2-71-29 ॥

'On the fourteenth year hence, the Kauravas, in consequence of Duryodhana's fault, will all be destroyed by the might of Bhima and Arjuna.' ॥ 2-71-30 ॥
