[व] तथा तान दुःखितान दृष्ट्वा पाण्डवान धृतराष्ट्रजः कलिश्यमानां च पाञ्चालीं विकर्ण इदम अब्रवीत ॥ २-६१-११ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, "Seeing the Pandavas in such distress and the princess of Panchala equally tormented, Vikarna, the son of Dhritarashtra, spoke up."' ॥ 2-61-11 ॥
english translation
याज्ञसेन्या यद उक्तं तद वाक्यं विब्रूत पार्थिवाः अविवेकेन वाक्यस्य नरकः सद्य एव नः ॥ २-६१-१२ ॥
'O kings, please answer the question posed by Yajnaseni. If we fail to address this matter, we will all surely be condemned to hell without delay.' ॥ 2-61-12 ॥
english translation
भीष्मश च धृतराष्ट्रश च कुरुवृद्ध तमाव उभौ समेत्य नाहतुः किं चिद विदुरश च महामतिः ॥ २-६१-१३ ॥
'How is that Bhishma and Dhritarashtra, both of whom are the oldest of the Kurus, as also the high-souled Vidura, do not say anything!' ॥ 2-61-13 ॥
english translation
भरद्वाजॊ ऽपि सर्वेषाम आचार्यः कृप एव च अत एताव अपि परश्नं नाहतुर दविजसत्तमौ ॥ २-६१-१४ ॥
'Why do these esteemed sages, the son of Bharadwaja, our preceptor, and Kripa, remain silent and not answer the question.' ॥ 2-61-14 ॥
english translation
ये तव अन्ये पृथिवीपालाः समेताः सर्वतॊदिशः कामक्रॊधौ समुत्सृज्य ते बरुवन्तु यथामति ॥ २-६१-१५ ॥
'Let also those other kings assembled here from all directions answer according to their judgment this question, leaving aside all motives of gain and anger.' ॥ 2-61-15 ॥
