[वि] राजा महात्मा कुशली सपुत्र; आस्ते वृतॊ जञातिभिर इन्द्रकल्पैः परीतॊ राजन पुत्र गणैर विनीतैर; विशॊक एवात्म रतिर दृढात्मा ।। २-५२-६ ।।

'Vidura said, "The illustrious king, along with his sons, is well and content. Surrounded by his relatives, he reigns as majestically as Indra himself. The king is joyful, with his sons being obedient, and he harbors no grief."' ।। 2-52-6 ।।

english translation

[vi] rAjA mahAtmA kuzalI saputra; Aste vRtò jaJAtibhira indrakalpaiH parItò rAjana putra gaNaira vinItaira; vizòka evAtma ratira dRDhAtmA || 2-52-6 ||

'The illustrious monarch is focused on his exaltation. The Kuru king has instructed me to inquire about your well-being and prosperity and to invite you and your brothers to visit Hastinapura. After seeing the newly constructed palace of King Dhritarashtra, you should assess whether it is on par with your own.' ।। 2-52-7 ।।

idaM tu tavAM kururAjò 'bhayuvAca; pUrvAM pRSTvA kuzalaM cAvyayaM ca iyaM sabhA tavata sabhA tulyarUpA; bharAtRRNAM te pazyatAma etya putra || 2-52-7 ||

'O son of Pritha, upon arriving there with your brothers, enjoy the mansion and participate in a friendly game of dice. We would be delighted if you go, as the Kurus are already gathered there.' ।। 2-52-8 ।।

'And there you will see the gamblers and deceivers whom the illustrious King Dhritarashtra has already brought. This is the purpose of my visit, O king. I hope you will honor the king's command.' ।। 2-52-9 ।।

'Yudhishthira said, "O Vidura if we engage in a game of dice, there is a risk of quarrels arising. Who would willingly participate in such a game knowing this? What do you think would be appropriate for us? We are all ready to follow your advice."' ।। 2-52-10 ।।

[ya] dayUte kaSattaH kalahò vidyate; naH kaza vai dayUtaM ròcayeda yudhyamAnaH kiM vA bhavAna manyate yuktarUpaM; bhavadvAkye sarva eva sathitAH sama || 2-52-10 ||
