[व] ततः परायाद विदुरॊ ऽशवैर उदारैर; महाजवैर बलिभिः साधु दान्तैः बलान नियुक्तॊ धृतराष्ट्रेण राज्ञा; मनीषिणां पाण्डवानां सकाशम ।। २-५२-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana said, "Reluctantly following the command of King Dhritarashtra, Vidura departed. He traveled in a chariot drawn by noble horses, known for their great speed, strength, and calm temperament, heading towards the dwelling of the wise sons of Pandu."' ।। 2-52-1 ।।

english translation

[va] tataH parAyAda vidurò 'zavaira udAraira; mahAjavaira balibhiH sAdhu dAntaiH balAna niyuktò dhRtarASTreNa rAjJA; manISiNAM pANDavAnAM sakAzama || 2-52-1 ||

hk transliteration

सॊ ऽभिपत्य तद अध्वानम आसाद्य नृपतेः पुरम परविवेश महाबुद्धिः पूज्यमानॊ दविजातिभिः ।। २-५२-२ ।।

sanskrit

'Possessing great intelligence, Vidura traveled along the road leading to the Pandavas' capital. Upon arriving King Yudhishthira, he entered and made his way towards the palace, receiving the reverence of countless Brahmanas.' ।। 2-52-2 ।।

english translation

sò 'bhipatya tada adhvAnama AsAdya nRpateH purama paraviveza mahAbuddhiH pUjyamAnò davijAtibhiH || 2-52-2 ||

hk transliteration

स राजगृहम आसाद्य कुवेर भवनॊपमम अभ्यगच्छत धर्मात्मा धर्मपुत्रं युधिष्ठिरम ।। २-५२-३ ।।

sanskrit

'Upon arriving at the palace, which was comparable to the mansion of Kubera, the virtuous Vidura approached Yudhishthira, the son of Dharma.' ।। 2-52-3 ।।

english translation

sa rAjagRhama AsAdya kuvera bhavanòpamama abhyagacchata dharmAtmA dharmaputraM yudhiSThirama || 2-52-3 ||

तं वै राजा सत्यधृतिर महात्मा; अजातशत्रुर विदुरं यथावत पूजा पूर्वं परतिगृह्याजमीढस; ततॊ ऽपृच्छद धृतराष्ट्रं सपुत्रम ।। २-५२-४ ।।

sanskrit

'Then the illustrious Ajamida (one without enemies, referring to King Yudhishthira) committed to truth and free from hostility, greeted Vidura with reverence. He then inquired about the well-being of Dhritarashtra and his sons.' ।। 2-52-4 ।।

taM vai rAjA satyadhRtira mahAtmA; ajAtazatrura viduraM yathAvata pUjA pUrvaM paratigRhyAjamIDhasa; tatò 'pRcchada dhRtarASTraM saputrama || 2-52-4 ||

hk transliteration

[य] विज्ञायते ते मनसॊ न परहर्षः; कच चित कषत्तः कुशलेनागतॊ ऽसि कच चित पुत्राः सथविरस्यानुलॊमा; वशानुगाश चापि विशॊ ऽपि कच चित ।। २-५२-५ ।।

sanskrit

'Yudhishthira said, "O Vidura, you appear troubled. Have you come in peace and good health? I hope the sons of Dhritarashtra are dutiful to their aged father, and that the people are content under his rule."' ।। 2-52-5 ।।

[ya] vijJAyate te manasò na paraharSaH; kaca cita kaSattaH kuzalenAgatò 'si kaca cita putrAH sathavirasyAnulòmA; vazAnugAza cApi vizò 'pi kaca cita || 2-52-5 ||
