'People go to the Eastern or the Western seas and also to the Southern one. But, O father, none except birds can ever go to the Northern sea.' ।। 2-49-16 ।।
तत्र सम दध्मुः शतशः शङ्खान मङ्गल्य कारणात पराणदंस ते समाध्मातास तत्र रॊमाणि मे ऽहृषन ।। २-४९-१७ ।।
'The Pandavas extended their influence even to that region, as I heard hundreds of conches from there being blown in the sacrificial hall, signaling joyful celebrations. The simultaneous sound of those conches sent a shiver down my spine, making my hair stand on end.' ।। 2-49-17 ।।
'Those who had been defeated and those bound by earthly ties fell, struck down by their own strength. Dhrishtadyumna, the Pandavas, Satyaki, and Keshava were the eighth to fall.' ।। 2-49-18 ।।
सत्त्वस्थाः शौर्यसंपन्ना अन्यॊन्यप्रियकारिणः विसंज्ञान भूमिपान दृष्ट्वा मां च ते पराहसंस तदा ।। २-४९-१९ ।।
'Endued with strength and prowess and handsome in person, beholding the kings deprived of consciousness and myself in that plight, laughed outright.' ।। 2-49-19 ।।
'Then Vibhatsu (Arjuna) with a cheerful heart gave, O Bharata, unto the principal Brahmanas five hundred bullocks with horns plated with gold.' ।। 2-49-20 ।।
