शरियं तथाविधां दृष्ट्वा जवलन्तीम इव पाण्डवे अमर्षवशम आपन्नॊ दह्ये ऽहम अतथॊचितः ॥ २-४३-२६ ॥
'Witnessing Yudhishthira's immense prosperity, my heart burns with jealousy, though it is unbecoming for me to feel such envy.' ॥ 2-43-26 ॥
english translation
वह्निम एव परवेक्ष्यामि भक्षयिष्यामि वा विषम अपॊ वापि परवेक्ष्यामि न हि शक्ष्यामि जीवितुम ॥ २-४३-२७ ॥
'Having reflected in this manner and feeling as though consumed by fire, Duryodhana turned to the King of Gandhara and said, 'I will throw myself into a blazing fire, swallow poison, or drown in water. I cannot endure living any longer.'' ॥ 2-43-27 ॥
english translation
कॊ हि नाम पुमाँल लॊके मर्षयिष्यति सत्त्ववान सपत्नान ऋध्यतॊ दृष्ट्वा हानिम आत्मन एव च ॥ २-४३-२८ ॥
'Who, possessing true vigor, can bear to see his enemies thriving in prosperity while he suffers in destitution?' ॥ 2-43-28 ॥
english translation
सॊ ऽहं न सत्री न चाप्य अस्त्री न पुमान नापुमान अपि यॊ ऽहं तां मर्षयाम्य अद्य तादृशीं शरियम आगताम ॥ २-४३-२९ ॥
'Therefore, I who cannot bear to see my enemies' rise in prosperity and fortune must be neither a woman nor someone who is not a woman, neither a man nor someone who is not a man.' ॥ 2-43-29 ॥

ईश्वरत्वं पृथिव्याश च वसुमत्तां च तादृशीम यज्ञं च तादृशं दृष्ट्वा मादृशः कॊ न संज्वरेत ॥ २-४३-३० ॥
'Seeing such divine sovereignty over the earth, the wealth of the gods, and the grandeur of such a sacrifice, who would not be consumed by envy?' ॥ 2-43-30 ॥
