एवमादि ततः सर्वे सहितास ते नराधिपाः वासुदेव वचॊ शरुत्वा चेदिराजं वयगर्हयन ॥ २-४२-१६ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, "Hearing these words from Vasudeva, all the assembled monarchs began to rebuke the ruler of Chedi."' ॥ 2-42-16 ॥

ततस तद वचनं शरुत्वा शिशुपालः परतापवान जहास सवनवद धासं परहस्येदम उवाच ह ॥ २-४२-१७ ॥
'Upon hearing these words, the mighty Shishupala laughed loudly and mockingly addressed them, saying:' ॥ 2-42-17 ॥
english translation
मत पूर्वां रुक्मिणीं कृष्ण संसत्सु परिकीर्तयन विशेषतः पार्थिवेषु वरीडां न कुरुषे कथम ॥ २-४२-१८ ॥
'O Krishna, proclaiming Rukmini as your first (wife) in assemblies, Especially among kings, how do you not feel shame?' ॥ 2-42-18 ॥
english translation
मन्यमानॊ हि कः सत्सु पुरुषः परिकीर्तयेत अन्यपूर्वां सत्रियं जातु तवदन्यॊ मधुसूदन ॥ २-४२-१९ ॥
'O slayer of Madhu, who else but you would claim in the presence of respectable men that his wife was intended for someone else?' ॥ 2-42-19 ॥

कषम वा यदि ते शरद्धा मा वा कृष्ण मम कषम करुद्धाद वापि परसन्नाद वा किं मे तवत्तॊ भविष्यति ॥ २-४२-२० ॥
'Krishna, whether you pardon me or not, what can you do to me, whether in anger or in friendship?' ॥ 2-42-20 ॥
