[व] स गत्वा हास्तिनपुरं नकुलः समितिंजयः भीष्मम आमन्त्रयाम आस धृतराष्ट्रं च पाण्डवः ॥ २-३१-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said: “The ever-victorious Nakula, the son of Pandu, upon reaching Hastinapura, extended a formal invitation to Bhishma and Dhritarashtra.”' ॥ 2-31-1 ॥

[va] sa gatvA hAstinapuraM nakulaH samitiMjayaH bhISmama AmantrayAma Asa dhRtarASTraM ca pANDavaH ॥ 2-31-1 ॥

परययुः परीतमनसॊ यज्ञं बरह्म पुरःसराः संश्रुत्य धर्मराजस्य यज्ञं यज्ञविदस तदा ॥ २-३१-२ ॥

'The elder of the Kuru dynasty, accompanied by their preceptor and invited with due ceremonies, arrived with joyous hearts at the sacrifice, with Brahmanas leading the way. Additionally, O scion of the Bharata lineage, upon hearing of King Yudhishthira’s grand sacrifice, many Kshatriyas from various regions, well-versed in the nature of such rituals, came with great enthusiasm.' ॥ 2-31-2 ॥

parayayuH parItamanasò yajJaM barahma puraHsarAH saMzrutya dharmarAjasya yajJaM yajJavidasa tadA ॥ 2-31-2 ॥

अन्ये च शतशस तुष्टैर मनॊभिर मनुजर्षभ दरष्टुकामाः सभां चैव धर्मराजं च पाण्डवम ॥ २-३१-३ ॥

'They were eager to see King Yudhishthira, the son of Pandu, and his magnificent sacrificial pavilion, bringing with them a wealth of precious jewels of diverse kinds.' ॥ 2-31-3 ॥

anye ca zatazasa tuSTaira manòbhira manujarSabha daraSTukAmAH sabhAM caiva dharmarAjaM ca pANDavama ॥ 2-31-3 ॥

दिग्भ्यः सर्वे समापेतुः पार्थिवास तत्र भारत समुपादाय रत्नानि विविधानि महान्ति च ॥ २-३१-४ ॥

'From all directions, O Bharata, the kings arrived there, Bringing with them various and great jewels.' ॥ 2-31-4 ॥

digbhyaH sarve samApetuH pArthivAsa tatra bhArata samupAdAya ratnAni vividhAni mahAnti ca ॥ 2-31-4 ॥

धृतराष्ट्रश च भीष्मश च विदुरश च महामतिः दुर्यॊधन पुरॊगाश च भरातरः सर्व एव ते ॥ २-३१-५ ॥

'Dhritarashtra, Bhishma, and the wise Vidura, along with all the Kauravas led by Duryodhana—these were all present there.' ॥ 2-31-5 ॥
