जारा संधिं सान्त्वयित्वा करे च विनिवेश्य ह तैर एव सहितॊ राजन कर्णम अभ्यद्रवद बली ॥ २-२७-१६ ॥
'O King, having pacified the Jarasandha through conciliation and bringing him under control, the powerful one, together with them, rushed against Karna.' ॥ 2-27-16 ॥

jArA saMdhiM sAntvayitvA kare ca vinivezya ha taira eva sahitò rAjana karNama abhyadravada balI ॥ 2-27-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस कम्पयन्न इव महीं बलेन चतुरङ्गिणा युयुधे पाण्डवश्रेष्ठः कर्णेनामित्र घातिना ॥ २-२७-१७ ॥
'Shaking the earth with his mighty fourfold army, the foremost of the Pandavas fought with Karna, the slayer of enemies.' ॥ 2-27-17 ॥

sa kampayanna iva mahIM balena caturaGgiNA yuyudhe pANDavazreSThaH karNenAmitra ghAtinA ॥ 2-27-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस कर्णं युधि निर्जित्य वशे कृत्वा च भारत ततॊ विजिग्ये बलवान राज्ञः पर्वतवासिनः ॥ २-२७-१८ ॥
'And, O Bharata, having subdued Karna and brought him under his control, the mighty hero then vanquished the powerful king of the mountainous regions.' ॥ 2-27-18 ॥

sa karNaM yudhi nirjitya vaze kRtvA ca bhArata tatò vijigye balavAna rAjJaH parvatavAsinaH ॥ 2-27-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ मॊदा गिरिं चैव राजानं बलवत्तरम पाण्डवॊ बाहुवीर्येण निजघान महाबलम ॥ २-२७-१९ ॥
'And the son of Pandu, using his great strength, defeated the mighty king residing in Madagiri in a fierce encounter.' ॥ 2-27-19 ॥

'Then, O king, the Pandava subdued in battle the formidable heroes: the valiant Vasudeva, the king of Pundra, and the powerful Mahaujah of Kausika-kachchha, before turning his attention to the king of Vanga.' ॥ 2-27-20 ॥
