ततस तु धर्मराजस्य शासनाद भरतर्षभः शिशुपालं महावीर्यम अभ्ययाज जनमेजय ।। २-२६-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Then, O Janamejaya, that foremost of the Bharatas, at the command of Yudhishthira the just, marched against the mighty Shishupala.' ।। 2-26-11 ।।

english translation

tatasa tu dharmarAjasya zAsanAda bharatarSabhaH zizupAlaM mahAvIryama abhyayAja janamejaya || 2-26-11 ||

hk transliteration

चेदिराजॊ ऽपि तच छरुत्वा पाण्डवस्य चिकीर्षितम उपनिष्क्रम्य नगरात परत्यगृह्णात परंतपः ।। २-२६-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'Upon hearing this, even though the king (Shishupala) was determined to fulfill the Pandava's intent, he left the city and retreated.' ।। 2-26-12 ।।

english translation

cedirAjò 'pi taca charutvA pANDavasya cikIrSitama upaniSkramya nagarAta paratyagRhNAta paraMtapaH || 2-26-12 ||

hk transliteration

तौ समेत्य महाराज कुरु चेदिवृषौ तदा उभयॊर आत्मकुलयॊः कौशल्यं पर्यपृच्छताम ।। २-२६-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'Thus, O king, the leaders of the Chedi and Kuru lines met and inquired about each other's well-being.' ।। 2-26-13 ।।

english translation

tau sametya mahArAja kuru cedivRSau tadA ubhayòra AtmakulayòH kauzalyaM paryapRcchatAma || 2-26-13 ||

hk transliteration

ततॊ निवेद्य तद राष्ट्रं चेदिराजॊ विशां पते उवाच भीमं परहसन किम इदं कुरुषे ऽनघ ।। २-२६-१४ ।।

sanskrit

'Then, O monarch, the king of Chedi offered his kingdom to Bhima and, smiling, asked, 'O sinless one, what is your purpose here?'" ।। 2-26-14 ।।

english translation

tatò nivedya tada rASTraM cedirAjò vizAM pate uvAca bhImaM parahasana kima idaM kuruSe 'nagha || 2-26-14 ||

hk transliteration

तस्य भीमस तदाचख्यौ धर्मराज चिकीर्षितम स च तत परतिगृह्यैव तथा चक्रे नराधिपः ।। २-२६-१५ ।।

sanskrit

'Bhima then explained to him that it was the intention of Dharma Raja. The king of Chedi, having accepted this, acted accordingly.' ।। 2-26-15 ।।

tasya bhImasa tadAcakhyau dharmarAja cikIrSitama sa ca tata paratigRhyaiva tathA cakre narAdhipaH || 2-26-15 ||
