[व] एतस्मिन्न एव काले तु भीमसेनॊ ऽपि वीर्यवान धर्मराजम अनुज्ञाप्य ययौ पराचीं दिशं परति ॥ २-२६-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said: "Meanwhile, Bhimasena, endowed with great energy, obtained Yudhishthira's assent and marched towards the eastern direction."' ॥ 2-26-1 ॥

english translation

[va] etasminna eva kAle tu bhImasenò 'pi vIryavAna dharmarAjama anujJApya yayau parAcIM dizaM parati ॥ 2-26-1 ॥

महता बलचक्रेण परराष्ट्रावमर्दिना वृतॊ भरतशार्दूलॊ दविषच छॊकविवर्धनः ॥ २-२६-२ ॥

'And the tiger among the Bharatas, endowed with great valor and ever augmenting the sorrows of his foes, was accompanied by a formidable host complete with elephants, horses, and chariots. This well-armed force was capable of crushing all hostile kingdoms.' ॥ 2-26-2 ॥

स गत्वा राजशार्दूलः पाञ्चालानां पुरं महत पाञ्चालान विविधॊपायैः सान्त्वयाम आस पाण्डवः ॥ २-२६-३ ॥

'That tiger among men, the son of Pandu, first entered the great land of the Panchalas and began conciliating the people through various means.' ॥ 2-26-3 ॥

sa gatvA rAjazArdUlaH pAJcAlAnAM puraM mahata pAJcAlAna vividhòpAyaiH sAntvayAma Asa pANDavaH ॥ 2-26-3 ॥

ततः सगण्डकीं शूरॊ विदेहांश च नरर्षभः विजित्याल्पेन कालेन दशार्णान अगमत परभुः ॥ २-२६-४ ॥

'Soon after, the hero, a bull among the Bharatas, defeated the Gandakas and the Videhas. He then subjugated the Dasarnas.' ॥ 2-26-4 ॥

'In the Dasarna region, the king Sudharman, wielding only his bare arms, engaged in a fierce battle with Bhimasena.' ॥ 2-26-5 ॥
