[वै] तं विजित्य महाबाहुः कुन्तीपुत्रॊ धनंजयः परययाव उत्तरां तस्माद दिशं धनद पालितम ॥ २-२४-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued: Thus addressed, Dhananjaya replied to Bhagadatta, saying, "If you promise to do this, you have fulfilled all my desires." Having subjugated the king of Pragjyotisha, the long-armed son of Kunti, Dhananjaya, then marched towards the north—the direction presided over by the Lord of Treasures.' ॥ 2-24-1 ॥

[vai] taM vijitya mahAbAhuH kuntIputrò dhanaMjayaH parayayAva uttarAM tasmAda dizaM dhanada pAlitama ॥ 2-24-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअन्तर गिरिं च कौन्तेयस तथैव च बहिर गिरिम तथॊपरि गिरिं चैव विजिग्ये पुरुषर्षभः ॥ २-२४-२ ॥
'That bull among men, the son of Kunti, then conquered the mountainous tracts and their outskirts, as well as the hilly regions.' ॥ 2-24-2 ॥

antara giriM ca kaunteyasa tathaiva ca bahira girima tathòpari giriM caiva vijigye puruSarSabhaH ॥ 2-24-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविजित्य पर्वतान सर्वान ये च तत्र नराधिपाः तान वशे सथापयित्वा स रत्नान्य आदाय सर्वशः ॥ २-२४-३ ॥
'Having subdued all the mountains and the kings who reigned there, he brought them under his sway and exacted tributes from all.' ॥ 2-24-3 ॥

vijitya parvatAna sarvAna ye ca tatra narAdhipAH tAna vaze sathApayitvA sa ratnAnya AdAya sarvazaH ॥ 2-24-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतैर एव सहितः सर्वैर अनुरज्य च तान नृपान कुलूतवासिनं राजन बृहन्तम उपजग्मिवान ॥ २-२४-४ ॥
'Winning the affections of those kings and uniting with them, he next marched against Vrihanta, the king of Uluka.' ॥ 2-24-4 ॥

taira eva sahitaH sarvaira anurajya ca tAna nRpAna kulUtavAsinaM rAjana bRhantama upajagmivAna ॥ 2-24-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमृदङ्गवरनादेन रथनेमि सवनेन च हस्तिनां च निनादेन कम्पयन वसुधाम इमाम ॥ २-२४-५ ॥
'The earth trembled with the sound of his drums, the clatter of his chariot wheels, and the roar of the elephants in his train.' ॥ 2-24-5 ॥
