चैत्यकं च गिरेः शृङ्गं भित्त्वा किम इव सद्म नः अद्वारेण परविष्टाः सथ निर्भया राजकिल्बिषात ॥ २-१९-४१ ॥
'Tell me truly who you are. Truth adorns even kings. Why have you, disguised and entering through an improper gate without fear of royal retribution, broken down the peak of Chaityaka hill?' ॥ 2-19-41 ॥
english translation
कर्म चैतद विलिङ्गस्य किं वाद्य परसमीक्षितम वदध्वं वाचि वीर्यं च बराह्मणस्य विशेषतः ॥ २-१९-४२ ॥
'The power of a Brahmana lies in his words, not in his actions. Your actions do not befit the order to which you claim to belong.' ॥ 2-19-42 ॥
english translation
एवं च माम उपस्थाय कस्माच च विधिनार्हणाम परणीतां नॊ न गृह्णीत कार्यं किं चास्मद आगमे ॥ २-१९-४३ ॥
'Therefore, tell us your intentions. Having arrived here through such an unconventional means, why do you refuse the hospitality I offer? What is your purpose in coming to me?' ॥ 2-19-43 ॥
english translation
एवम उक्तस ततः कृष्णः परत्युवाच महामनाः सनिग्धगम्भीरया वाचा वाक्यं वाक्यविशारदः ॥ २-१९-४४ ॥
'Thus addressed by the king, the high-souled Krishna, well-skilled in speech, thus replied unto the monarch in a calm and grave voice.' ॥ 2-19-44 ॥

सनातक वरतिनॊ राजन बराह्मणाः कषत्रिया विशः विशेषनियमाश चैषाम अविशेषाश च सन्त्य उत ॥ २-१९-४५ ॥
'Krishna said, "O king, recognize us as Snataka Brahmanas. Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas alike, O monarch, are capable of observing the Snataka vow."' ॥ 2-19-45 ॥
