सुप्रणीतॊ बलौघॊ हि कुरुते कार्यम उत्तमम अन्धं जडं बलं पराहुः परणेतव्यं विचक्षणैः ॥ २-१८-१६ ॥
'When properly led, troops always render excellent service. A force without a leader is deemed inert by the wise.' ॥ 2-18-16 ॥

यतॊ हि निम्नं भवति नयन्तीह ततॊ जलम यतश छिद्रं ततश चापि नयन्ते धीधना बलम ॥ २-१८-१७ ॥
'Therefore, forces should always be commanded by experienced leaders. Wise leaders always guide water to low places.' ॥ 2-18-17 ॥

तस्मान नयविधानज्ञं पुरुषं लॊकविश्रुतम वयम आश्रित्य गॊविन्दं यतामः कार्यसिद्धये ॥ २-१८-१८ ॥
'Even fishermen make water flow out through holes in a tank. Likewise, experienced leaders always consider the vulnerabilities and weak points of the enemy. Therefore, we shall strive to achieve our purpose under the leadership of Govinda, renowned for his understanding of statecraft, whose fame has spread throughout the world.' ॥ 2-18-18 ॥

एवं परज्ञा नयबलं करियॊपाय समन्वितम पुरस्कुर्वीत कार्येषु कृष्ण कार्यार्थसिद्धये ॥ २-१८-१९ ॥
'To achieve success in one's endeavors, one should always place Krishna at the forefront, the foremost among individuals whose strength lies in wisdom, strategy, and knowledge of both methods and means.' ॥ 2-18-19 ॥

एवम एव यदुश्रेष्ठं पार्थः कार्यार्थसिद्धये अर्जुनः कृष्णम अन्वेतु भीमॊ ऽनवेतु धनंजयम नयॊ जयॊ बलं चैव विक्रमे सिद्धिम एष्यति ॥ २-१८-२० ॥
'Therefore, let Arjuna, the son of Pritha, follow Krishna, the foremost of the Yadavas, for the accomplishment of his purpose. And let Bhima follow Arjuna. Strategy, good fortune, and strength will ensure success in matters requiring valor.' ॥ 2-18-20 ॥
