दरव्यभूता गुणाः सर्वे तिष्ठन्ति हि पराक्रमे जयस्य हेतुः सिद्धिर हि कर्म दैवं च संश्रितम ।। २-१५-११ ।।

'However, one who lacks valor, even if endowed with every other virtue, can hardly achieve anything. Every virtue exists in a potential state alongside valor.' ।। 2-15-11 ।।

english translation

daravyabhUtA guNAH sarve tiSThanti hi parAkrame jayasya hetuH siddhira hi karma daivaM ca saMzritama || 2-15-11 ||

संयुक्तॊ हि बलैः कश चित परमादान नॊपयुज्यते तेन दवारेण शत्रुभ्यः कषीयते सबलॊ रिपुः ।। २-१५-१२ ।।

'Concentration of attention, effort, and destiny are the three causes of victory. Yet, even one endowed with valor does not deserve success if they act carelessly.' ।। 2-15-12 ।।

saMyuktò hi balaiH kaza cita paramAdAna nòpayujyate tena davAreNa zatrubhyaH kaSIyate sabalò ripuH || 2-15-12 ||

दैन्यं यथाबलवति तथा मॊहॊ बलान्विते ताव उभौ नाशकौ हेतू राज्ञा तयाज्यौ जयार्थिना ।। २-१५-१३ ।।

'Hence, sometimes an enemy, despite their strength, meets death at the hands of their adversaries. Just as weakness leads to defeat for the feeble, so too can foolishness overcome the strong. A king, therefore, that is desirous of victory, should avoid both these causes of destruction.' ।। 2-15-13 ।।

dainyaM yathAbalavati tathA mòhò balAnvite tAva ubhau nAzakau hetU rAjJA tayAjyau jayArthinA || 2-15-13 ||

जरासंध विनाशं च राज्ञां च परिमॊक्षणम यदि कुर्याम यज्ञार्थं किं ततः परमं भवेत ।। २-१५-१४ ।।

'If we strive to slay Jarasandha and rescue the kings imprisoned by him for our sacrifice, there can be no nobler endeavor.' ।। 2-15-14 ।।

jarAsaMdha vinAzaM ca rAjJAM ca parimòkSaNama yadi kuryAma yajJArthaM kiM tataH paramaM bhaveta || 2-15-14 ||

अनारम्भे तु नियतॊ भवेद अगुण निश्चयः गुणान निःसंशयाद राजन नैर्गुण्यं मन्यसे कथम ।। २-१५-१५ ।।

'O King, if we do not act, there would certainly be a determination of demerit. How can you consider inaction when there are undoubted merits [in acting]?' ।। 2-15-15 ।।

anArambhe tu niyatò bhaveda aguNa nizcayaH guNAna niHsaMzayAda rAjana nairguNyaM manyase kathama || 2-15-15 ||
