[व] पार्थः पराप्य धनुःश्रेष्ठम अक्षय्यौ च महेषुधी रथं धवजं सभां चैव युधिष्ठिरम अभाषत ॥ २-१५-६ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, "Arjuna, who had acquired that excellent bow, the pair of inexhaustible quivers, the chariot with its banner, and the assembly hall, then spoke to Yudhishthira."' ॥ 2-15-6 ॥
english translation
[va] pArthaH parApya dhanuHzreSThama akSayyau ca maheSudhI rathaM dhavajaM sabhAM caiva yudhiSThirama abhASata ॥ 2-15-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptधनुर अस्त्रं शरा वीर्यं पक्षॊ भूमिर यशॊबलम पराप्तम एतन मया राजन दुष्प्रापं यद अभीप्सितम ॥ २-१५-७ ॥
'O king, I have obtained a bow, weapons, arrows, energy, allies, dominions, fame, and strength. These are always difficult to acquire, no matter how much they are desired.' ॥ 2-15-7 ॥

dhanura astraM zarA vIryaM pakSò bhUmira yazòbalama parAptama etana mayA rAjana duSprApaM yada abhIpsitama ॥ 2-15-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकुले जन्म परशंसन्ति वैद्याः साधु सुनिष्ठिताः बलेन सदृशं नास्ति वीर्यं तु मम रॊचते ॥ २-१५-८ ॥
'In esteemed circles, learned men often extol the nobility of lineage. Yet, there is nothing comparable to strength. Indeed, O monarch, there is nothing I value more than prowess.' ॥ 2-15-8 ॥

kule janma parazaMsanti vaidyAH sAdhu suniSThitAH balena sadRzaM nAsti vIryaM tu mama ròcate ॥ 2-15-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकृतवीर्यकुले जातॊ निर्वीर्यः किं करिष्यति कषत्रियः सर्वशॊ राजन यस्य वृत्तिः पराजये ॥ २-१५-९ ॥
'Born in a lineage renowned for its valor, one without valor is hardly esteemed. Conversely, one endowed with valor, even if born in a lineage not renowned for it, is far superior to the former.' ॥ 2-15-9 ॥

kRtavIryakule jAtò nirvIryaH kiM kariSyati kaSatriyaH sarvazò rAjana yasya vRttiH parAjaye ॥ 2-15-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसर्वैर अपि गुणैर हीनॊ वीर्यवान हि तरेद रिपून सर्वैर अपि गुणैर युक्तॊ निर्वीर्यः किं करिष्यति ॥ २-१५-१० ॥
'O king, a true Kshatriya is one who enhances his fame and wealth through the conquest of his enemies. Even if he lacks all other virtues, if he possesses valor, he will conquer his foes.' ॥ 2-15-10 ॥

sarvaira api guNaira hInò vIryavAna hi tareda ripUna sarvaira api guNaira yuktò nirvIryaH kiM kariSyati ॥ 2-15-10 ॥
