सत्रियॊ ऽपि यस्यां युध्येयुः किं पुनर वृष्णिपुंगवाः तस्यां वयम अमित्रघ्न निवसामॊ ऽकुतॊभयाः ॥ २-१३-५१ ॥
'And from within its walls, even the women could fight the foe, let alone the Yadava heroes. O slayer of all foes, we now live in that city, free from any fear.' ॥ 2-13-51 ॥
english translation
satriyò 'pi yasyAM yudhyeyuH kiM punara vRSNipuMgavAH tasyAM vayama amitraghna nivasAmò 'kutòbhayAH ॥ 2-13-51 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआलॊक्य गिरिमुख्यं तं माधवी तीर्थम एव च माधवाः कुरुशार्दूल परां मुदम अवाप्नुवन ॥ २-१३-५२ ॥
'And, O tiger of the Kuru race, considering the inaccessibility of that foremost mountain and seeing themselves as having already overcome the fear of Jarasandha, the descendants of Madhu have become exceedingly glad.' ॥ 2-13-52 ॥

Alòkya girimukhyaM taM mAdhavI tIrthama eva ca mAdhavAH kuruzArdUla parAM mudama avApnuvana ॥ 2-13-52 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवं वयं जरासंधाद आदितः कृतकिल्बिषाः सामर्थ्यवन्तः संबन्धाद भवन्तं समुपाश्रिताः ॥ २-१३-५३ ॥
'Thus we, having been wronged by Jarasandha from the beginning, Though capable, have sought refuge with you due to our relationship.' ॥ 2-13-53 ॥

evaM vayaM jarAsaMdhAda AditaH kRtakilbiSAH sAmarthyavantaH saMbandhAda bhavantaM samupAzritAH ॥ 2-13-53 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतरियॊजनायतं सद्म तरिस्कन्धं यॊजनाद अधि यॊजनान्ते शतद्वारं विक्रमक्रमतॊरणम अष्टा दशावरैर नद्धं कषत्रियैर युद्धदुर्मदैः ॥ २-१३-५४ ॥
'We have sought refuge in the mountains of Gomanta, spanning three yojanas. Within each yojana, twenty-one posts of armed men stand guard. At intervals of each yojana, there are a hundred gates adorned with arches, defended by brave warriors devoted to their protection. Countless Kshatriyas, undefeated in battle and hailing from the eighteen younger branches of the Yadavas, are employed in defending these fortifications.' ॥ 2-13-54 ॥

tariyòjanAyataM sadma tariskandhaM yòjanAda adhi yòjanAnte zatadvAraM vikramakramatòraNama aSTA dazAvaraira naddhaM kaSatriyaira yuddhadurmadaiH ॥ 2-13-54 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअष्टा दशसहस्राणि वरतानां सन्ति नः कुले आहुकस्य शतं पुत्रा एकैकस तरिशतावरः ॥ २-१३-५५ ॥
'In our lineage, O king, there are a total of eighteen thousand brothers and cousins. Ahuka has had a hundred sons, each of whom possesses prowess akin to that of gods.' ॥ 2-13-55 ॥
