नार्थांश्चरेत्। प्रयत्नतोऽपि ह्येतेऽनुष्ठीयमाना नैव कदा चित्स्युः अनःअनुष्ठीयमाना अपि यदृच्छया भवेयुः ॥ २६ ॥
Riches should not be pursued. They do not come to those who make proper effort, but to those who do not deserve them.

अर्थार्जन के लिए प्रयत्न नहीं करना चाहिये, क्योंकि कभी अर्थ प्रयत्न करने पर भी तो प्राप्त नहीं होता, और कभी विना प्रयत्न के भी अकस्मात् प्राप्त हो जाता है॥ २६ ॥

तत्सर्वं कालकारितमिति ॥ २७ ॥
Everything in this world depends on destiny (kala). It is destiny that gives material goods. In judging human attempts, it is said:

Man's fortune and ill-fortune depend on destiny, his successes and his reverses, his joys and his sorrows.

काल ही मनुष्यों को अर्थ और अनर्थ में, जय और पराजय में तथा सुख और दुःख में स्थापित करता है॥ २८ ॥

कालेन बलिरिन्द्रः कृतः । कालेन व्यपरोपितः । काल एव पुनरप्येनं कर्तेति कालकारणिकाः ॥ २९ ॥
Destiny made Bali the king of Heaven, destiny was the cause of his downfall: destiny gave him back his place: destiny is the cause of everything that happens.

काल ने बलि को इन्द्र बनाया, काल ने ही उसे अपदस्थ किया और वही सम्भवतः उसे फिर इन्द्र बना दे ऐसा काल को ही सब कुछ का कारण मानने वाले आचार्य कहते हैं ॥ २९ ॥

पुरुषकारपूर्वकत्वात् सर्वप्रवृत्तीनामुपायः प्रत्ययः ॥ ३० ॥
o succeed in an enterprise, a man needs to make great effort.
