तत्र दत्तकादिभिः प्रणीतानां शास्त्रावयवानां एकदेशत्वात्महदिति च बाभ्रवीयस्य दुरःआध्येयत्वात्संक्षिप्य सर्वं अर्थं अल्पेन ग्रन्थेन कामसूत्रं इदं प्रणीतम्. ॥ १.१.१४ ॥
By publishing the various chapters separately, Dattaka and the others had lost the overall concept, and due to its length, the text of the Babhravyas was difficult to study, which is why Vatsyayana summarized the great work of the sons of Babhru and composed the Kama Sutra.
