पृष्टा च किञ्चित् सस्मितमव्यक्ताक्षरमनवसितार्थं च मन्दमन्दमधोमुखी कथयति । तत्समीपे चिरं स्थानमभिनन्दति। दूरे स्थिता पश्यतु मामिति मन्यमाना परिजनं सवदनविकारमाभाषते। तं देशं न मुञ्चति ॥ २७ ॥
When questioned, she replies with a half-smile, in a low voice, with indistinct words, while lowering her head. If she is near him, she takes pleasure in staying there for a long moment. If he is far off, with the idea of "he must look at me," she speaks with those close to her without looking at them and does not leave the place.

बोलने की रीति- अधिकांशतः युवतियाँ नायक द्वारा कुछ पूछे जाने पर मन्द मन्द मुस्काते हुए एवं मुख नीचा करके अस्पष्ट भाषा में ऐसा उत्तर देती है जिसका अर्थ शीघ्र ही समझ में न आये। नायक के पास देर तक ठहरना पसन्द करती हैं। दूर खड़ी 'यह मुझ देखे' ऐसा मानती हुई, अपने परिजनों के साथ मुख बनाकर बोलती हैं और उस स्थान को नहीं छोड़तीं ॥ २७ ॥
