ग्रहप्रभृतिसंस्थानं निर्दिशेदक्षरैः क्रमात्। राशिचक्रं लिखेद्भूमौ संयोज्याक्षरसंख्यया॥ १॥
The several places reckoned from each of the several planets should be indicated by figures and should be marked on the ground (nowadays on paper) and added together.

शून्याक्षरेण दशमं निर्दिशेद्विधिवत्ततः। सूर्यादिसग्नपर्यन्तमेतैर्वाक्यैर्विनिक्षिपेत्॥ २॥
The 10th one being represent by zero commencing with the Sun, etc., and ending with the Lagna in the several formulas.

स्वेषु स्येष्वष्टवर्गेषु ग्रहाणां च पृथक् पृथक्। दशां द्वादशसंभिन्नां योजयेत्तत्र तत्र हि॥ ३॥
The 12 kinds of the Dasa periods arising for the 12 houses should be separately entered for each of the several planets -

ग्रहादिनां फलं ज्ञात्वा निर्दिशेच्च पृथक् पृथक्। दशायां शून्यभावेषु शत्रुनीचगृहेषु च॥ ४॥
- and their (planets) effects determined separately. In the case of houses containing no benefic dots–houses owned or occupied by inimical planets, houses which are depressed (i. e., occupied by planets in depression)–

व्याध्यर्थनाशदुःखादींल्लभते नात्र संशयः। एकद्वित्रिफलं राशौ धनधान्यपशुक्षयः॥ ५॥
the person will without fail suffer diseases, and untoward happenings. When there are 1, 2, or 3 benefic dots in a Rasi, there will be loss of wealth, corn or death of cattle -
