Of all these, the three doshas are, by their very nature, vitiators that, when vitiated (by extraneous factors), vitiate other (doshas and dhatus) in the body. Signs and symptoms of the vitiation of various dhatus in different times have already been described. [Cha.Sa.Sutra Sthana 28] Such are the manifestations of the vitiated dosha when they come in contact with the tissue elements of the body. When in normal state, the doshas maintain the health of the individual. Hence, the wise man should try to keep them in normal state
