कामं प्राणहरा रोगा बहवो न तु ते तथा । यथा श्वासश्च हिक्का च प्राणानाशु निकृन्ततः ॥६॥
“In fact there are many diseases which can kill a patient. But none of the diseases is as lethal as shwasa and hikka as they can cause immediate death.
english translation
kAmaM prANaharA rogA bahavo na tu te tathA । yathA zvAsazca hikkA ca prANAnAzu nikRntataH ॥6॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअन्यैरप्युपसृष्टस्य रोगैर्जन्तोः पृथग्विधैः । अन्ते सञ्जायते हिक्का श्वासो वा तीव्रवेदनः ॥७॥
The person suffering from any other disease can also get eventually afflicted with enormously painful hikka and shwasa at the time of death.”
english translation
anyairapyupasRSTasya rogairjantoH pRthagvidhaiH । ante saJjAyate hikkA zvAso vA tIvravedanaH ॥7॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकफवातात्मकावेतौ पित्तस्थानसमुद्भवौ । हृदयस्य रसादीनां धातूनां चोपशोषणौ ॥८॥
॥ Predominance of dosha and affliction of dhatu॥ Hikka and shwasa are mainly kapha and vata dominant in nature. They originate at the site of pitta (upper part of stomach). This results in further depletion of dhatu like rasa dhatu situated in heart.

kaphavAtAtmakAvetau pittasthAnasamudbhavau । hRdayasya rasAdInAM dhAtUnAM copazoSaNau ॥8॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्मात् साधारणावेतौ मतौ परमदुर्जयौ । मिथ्योपचरितौ क्रुद्धौ हत आशीविषाविव ॥९॥
Hence generally they are extremely difficult to treat. After getting afflicted with this disease, if one indulges in unwholesome regimens, then disease gets aggravated and results in death just as from fatal snake venom.
