Brihat Samhita
पादौ जिघ्रेद्यायिनश्चेदयात्रां प्राहार्थऽप्तिं वाञ्छितां निश्चलस्य । स्थानस्थस्यौपानहौ चेद्विजिघ्रेत् क्षिप्रं यात्रां सारमेयः करोति ॥ ८९-१२ ॥
If the dog be seen to kiss the feet, the traveller will be stopped in his journey; but a person who does not travel will gain the object of his desire. If the dog (śvan) be seen to kiss the shoes of a person, that person will soon begin to travel.
