एकैकं अब्देषु नवऽहतेषु दत्त्वा पृथग्द्वादशकं क्रमेण । हृत्वा चतुर्भिर्वसुदेवताआद्यान्युडूनि शेषांशकपूर्वं अब्दम् ॥ ८-२२ ॥

Divide J (Jupiter’s years) by 12 and multiply the remainder by 9 and divide the product by 4; the quotient will represent the number of Nakṣatras, calculated from Dhaniṣṭhā, passed over by Mean Jupiter and the remainder the number of Navāhas passed over by him in the next Nakṣatra.

ekaikaM abdeSu nava'hateSu dattvA pRthagdvAdazakaM krameNa । hRtvA caturbhirvasudevatAAdyAnyuDUni zeSAMzakapUrvaM abdam ॥ 8-22 ॥
