धूमऽकुलो अपसव्यो मुहुर्मुहुर्विफुलिङ्गकृन्न शुभः । होतुः स्मृतिलोपो वा प्रसर्पणं चाशुभं प्रोक्तम् ॥ ६०-१३ ॥
If the flame should be attended with smokes and sparks, and if it should whirl from right to left, it indicates evil. If the officiating priest should be of forgetful memory or begin to quote a wrong portion of the Vedic text, it indicates evil.
