प्राक्प्रग्रहणं यस्मिन्पश्चादपसर्पणं तु तज्जरणम् । क्षुत्शस्त्रभय उद्विग्ना न शरणं उपयान्ति तत्र जनाः ॥ ५-८८ ॥

sanskrit

If the lunar eclipse should commence at the eastern point and terminate at the western point of the disc, the termination is known as jaraṇa (decaying): mankind will be afflicted with hunger and with wars: where then will they go for protection?

english translation

prAkpragrahaNaM yasminpazcAdapasarpaNaM tu tajjaraNam । kSutzastrabhaya udvignA na zaraNaM upayAnti tatra janAH ॥ 5-88 ॥
