जिह्वौपलेढि परितस्तिमिरनुदो मण्डलं यदि स लेहः । प्रमुदितसमस्तभूता प्रभूततोया च तत्र मही ॥ ५-४५ ॥

If the solar or lunar disc should be just dimmed by darkness all round which disappears immediately, the eclipse is technically known as Leha (licking): all creatures will be happy and the earth will be flooded with water.

english translation

jihvaupaleDhi paritastimiranudo maNDalaM yadi sa lehaH । pramuditasamastabhUtA prabhUtatoyA ca tatra mahI ॥ 5-45 ॥
