मार्कण्डेयो दीर्घतपाः शुनःशेफो विदूरथः । ऊर्ध्वः संवर्तकश्चएव च्यवनो अत्रिः पराशरः ॥ ४८-६६ ॥

Markandeya, the long-suffering dog, Shepha and Viduratha. The names of these sons were Urdhva, Samvartaka, Cyavana, Atri and Paraśara.

mArkaNDeyo dIrghatapAH zunaHzepho vidUrathaH । UrdhvaH saMvartakazcaeva cyavano atriH parAzaraH ॥ 48-66 ॥

द्वैपायनो यवक्रीतो देवराजः सहानुजः । पर्वतास्तरवो वल्ल्यः पुण्यान्यायतनानि च ॥ ४८-६७ ॥

Dvaipāyana Vyāsa, the king of the demigods, bought barley with his younger brother. Mountains trees creepers and holy places.

dvaipAyano yavakrIto devarAjaH sahAnujaH । parvatAstaravo vallyaH puNyAnyAyatanAni ca ॥ 48-67 ॥

प्रजापतिर्दितिश्चएव गावो विश्वस्य मातरः । वाहनानि च दिव्यानि सर्वलोकाश्चराचराः ॥ ४८-६८ ॥

Prajāpati and Diti are the mothers of the universe There were divine vehicles and all the worlds moving and nonmoving.

prajApatirditizcaeva gAvo vizvasya mAtaraH । vAhanAni ca divyAni sarvalokAzcarAcarAH ॥ 48-68 ॥

अग्नयः पितरस्तारा जीमूताः खं दिशो जलम् । एते चान्ये च बहवः पुण्यसङ्कीर्तनाः शुभैः ॥ ४८-६९ ॥

The fires, the fathers, the stars, the clouds, the sky, the directions and the water. These and many others are pious and auspicious chants.

agnayaH pitarastArA jImUtAH khaM dizo jalam । ete cAnye ca bahavaH puNyasaGkIrtanAH zubhaiH ॥ 48-69 ॥

तोयैस्त्वां अभिषिञ्चन्तु सर्वौत्पातनिबर्हणैः । यथाभिषिक्तो मघवानेतैर्मुदितमनसैः ॥ ४८-७० ॥

Let them anoint you with waters that destroy all calamities. Just as Indra was installed by these joyful men.

toyaistvAM abhiSiJcantu sarvautpAtanibarhaNaiH । yathAbhiSikto maghavAnetairmuditamanasaiH ॥ 48-70 ॥
