कुक्कुटरुतं प्रदोषे हेमन्तऽदौ च कोकिलऽलापाः । प्रतिलोममण्डलचराः श्येनऽद्याश्चाम्बरे भयदाः ॥ ४६-६८ ॥

The crowing of roosters at nightfall and the songs of cuckoos at the beginning of winter are ominous; likewise, hawks and other birds of prey circling the sky in a counter-clockwise direction forebode danger.
